Spring Fever and the Potting Shed

Take a peek inside the potting shed!! I will be planting LOTS of seeds this year.  I had gotten a HUGE seed lot a few years back:

So it’s going to be very handy this year, when times are lean and I couldn’t afford to buy anything!

I started some seeds downstairs in my growroom, and some are in the kitchen:

And the rest are in the downstairs grow room, which seriously needs attention, but the DOOR is cute 🙂

Done with snow!

Maya Angelou told it like it is! I am so sick of snow and ready for Spring.  I have my seed starting flats out and went through two bags of starting mix already! Being I am in Zone 5b, I have PURPLE peas and tomatoes and peppers growing downstairs under awesome grow lights.  I am READY!

Our Pumpkin Contest Entry

After waiting so long for our seeds, we did nothing special, just threw them in the organic soil that’s fertilized with organic guinea pig “beans” (yes, our cavies eat organic) and added water and love! So far, two weeks later, we had 10/12 sprout in Zone 5, update uploaded soon!

Picking Flowers for Violet Syrup and a Tick Rant

A sea of violets…  I was so thrilled to realize my whole back yard is edible!  I’ll be playing with a dandelion recipe soon.  This didn’t keep me from being careful.  We have guinea hens on order, and are working on fencing in the back yard.  In the meantime, it’s leggings and boots for me.  I’m SICK of ticks!
